The district is gathering feedback on the proposed Latimer Road Montessori program move options now through October 27. There are several ways to provide your feedback, including an online survey, dedicated email address, paper feedback form and traditional mail.

Dear parents and guardians,

As you are likely aware, Latimer Road Elementary is currently operating over capacity, and based on projections from both the provincial government and the City of Surrey, enrolment will continue to grow in this neighborhood, largely due to the SkyTrain expansion.

To proactively address future overcrowding, our district is considering a range of options for the Latimer Road Montessori program. Please be assured that any future decisions regarding school boundaries and the Montessori program will be made with the utmost transparency and consideration for the needs of our community.

To gather community feedback, we will be engaging in a public consultation process to discuss future options with families and community members who attend Latimer Road Elementary. Details on options being considered will be sent home with students on September 18th. Families will be able to share their thoughts via a dedicated website that will be available at that time for comments and information.

In addition, two evening community forums will be held. These sessions have been tentatively scheduled for the following dates:

• September 26, 2023 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. – At Latimer Road Elementary in the school gym. Please RSVP your attendance, with the school, so that we can ensure we have prepared materials appropriately.

• September 28, 2023 from 7 to 8 p.m. – A Teams/Zoom link for an online forum will be provided.

The information presented at each forum will be identical.

The consultation period will conclude on October 27th. Community contributions and comments will be summarized in a report for the Surrey Board of Education and presented at the December public Board meeting.
