External Research
Important: The Surrey School District will review a limited number of research applications from external applicants each year through our online portal. Research applications may be submitted during two windows each year between: (a) October 1st and November 30th and (b) March 1st and April 30th.
Exception: If you are an employee of Surrey Schools who is conducting research as part of a degree program (e.g., master’s thesis or doctoral dissertation), or one of our School Community Partnership members, we accept applications throughout the year. If you are one of our School Community Partnership members, please complete the following application HERE.
Surrey School District values research that contributes to improved educational outcomes for students. All individuals and organizations interested in conducting research in the district must have their proposals reviewed and approved by the Research and Evaluation Department. External research requests are reviewed to ensure that research and evaluation projects conducted in the district are ethically and methodologically sound. The district is particularly interested in research related to BC's redesigned curriculum and in alignment with the Surrey School District's Priority Practices.
You will have 72 hours to complete and submit the application once you begin. If you start the survey and leave, it is not possible to guarantee your progress will be saved, and you may have to begin again. Because of this, we advise you to either (a) complete the fillable PDF provided below (Tab 1) and transfer your responses to the online application when you are ready or (b) complete the online application in a single session (Tab 2). Please note, we only accept applications through our online system.
