French Immersion

Acquiring a new language helps students to develop intellectual tools, enabling them to face reality and the unknown, and to gain a different perspective of the world.

The Helping Teachers in French Immersion are committed to supporting teachers who are preparing students to be bilingual in both official languages. The goal is for students in French Immersion to attain the language and literacy competencies they will need to succeed at school, in the community, and in their personal and work life.

The Helping Teachers support teachers in Grades K-12 in all subject areas. In addition, they support the cultural components of language learning that celebrate French Language learning through District events such as the French Film Festival, Festival des Beaux Arts etc.

Key concepts or principles:

  • Literacy and Numeracy skills
  • First Peoples Principals of Learning
