Integrated Math and Science Academy (11-12)

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The Science Academy is an exciting two-year program designed to provide a unique educational experience for students in grades 11 and 12. This program is structured so that two blocks of the student's timetable, either in the morning or afternoon, are devoted to the Science Academy each semester. This allows students to take English 11 and 12, Social Studies 11, electives and other courses needed to graduate within the school community.

During the two blocks in the Science Academy, students will be taught by a team of instructors in a flexible instructional schedule. The two and a half hours each day can be used for lecture, labs, group work and/or independent studies. This flexible schedule allows for the curriculum to be compressed, integration between mathematics and science to be better achieved and the scientific process to be modeled and reinforced within a secondary school setting.
