Surrey students take home 11 medals at Skills Canada BC Competition
Eleven students from across the district are winners from this year’s Skills Canada BC Competition, a provincial contest that challenges secondary students on their skills in a variety of trades.
Students from Fraser Heights, Guildford Park, École Kwantlen Park and Princess Margaret secondary schools took top spots in eight different categories, from car painting and mechanical CAD to graphic design and animation. Held April 16 at the Tradex in Abbotsford, the 31st annual event sees students from around the province compete in trades-related competitions.
Fraser Heights Secondary boasted the most winners with seven, including three gold medalists, across 2D animation, graphic design, mechanical CAD, photography and web development. Kwantlen Park’s Aman Chandra and Mehtaab Gill took first and second in electronics while Princess Margaret’s Edleen Madhwan took silver in car painting and Guildford Park’s Kiley Ruiz finished third in architectural CAD
