Surrey Schools Superintendent Jordan Tinney announces retirement

TINNEY, Jordan - JUNE 2021.jpgEarlier today, Surrey Schools Superindent Dr. Jordan Tinney announced his intent to retire in the 2021/22 school year to all staff in the district via email. He had discussed this decision with the Surrey Board of Education earlier.

Jordan has been with the district for more than nine years, and as Superintendent for the past seven years. He has led the school district through exponential growth, a progressive learning strategy and the COVID-19 pandemic.

"We are very grateful for Jordan's leadership and dedication to the district," says Laurie Larsen, Chair of the Surrey Board of Education. "On behalf of the Board, I would like to thank him for all of his hard work and leadership, particularly over these past two years. This is bittersweet news - we will definitely miss him but we wish him all the best in his retirement."

Jordan will stay on as Superintendent until a replacement is found. The district will initiate a search process for a new Superintendent next week.
