Student submissions sought for Surrey Schools mental health & well-being website

2.pngStudents from all grades across the district are being asked to submit original artwork and photos that relay feelings of positive mental health and well-being, in promotion of a new Surrey Schools website that will provide free wellness resources for students and families.

The call for submissions aims to showcase student art and photos that will encourage others and provide a welcoming feel and atmosphere for those navigating what can sometimes be difficult subject matter.

“We want to see what positive mental health and well-being means to students and celebrate that by showcasing it alongside our resources,” said Selma Smith, director of instruction for Continuous Learning at Surrey Schools. “For many, art is not only a positive reminder of the world around us, but also a beneficial outlet that can help others find comfort during difficult times.”

Submissions should reflect positive mental health, convey a sense of social, emotional and physical well-being, and be high enough resolution for use online. Students may also use works that feature nature, which can be a source of relief and positivity for some.

Submissions are open until April 15. For more details and to submit a photo or piece of art, go to sd36.ca/wllbng23.
