SFU Surrey is hosting a Community Open House on Thursday, Oct. 27, for families and students of all ages to learn more about local post-secondary programs and think about what they want to do after graduation.

Running from 4-8 p.m., the open house will feature information sessions and campus tours, providing teens and pre-teens with ideas to inspire their post-secondary pursuits and highlight the availability of programs in their own backyard. There will also be virtual reality showcases and fun faculty presentations like making nitrogen ice cream, offering a deep dive into what students can learn and achieve at SFU. And there will be entertainment and games for the whole family.

“As an anchor institution embedded in the community, SFU is serving and supporting the needs and interests of our young, diverse and growing population,” reads a release from SFU Surrey. “We look forward to celebrating with members of our community at this year's Open House – see you there!”

SFU Surrey currently offers undergraduate and graduate courses in a variety of disciplines, such as business, education, environmental science, geography, health sciences, interactive arts and technology, international studies, mechatronics, psychology, sociology and more.

The open house will also have a series of draws for prizes from SFU Library, Club 16, Prospera Credit Union and Ethical Bean Coffee, and grand prize draws for 2 MacBook Airs and 2 iPads.

School career counsellors attending the open house will also receive a free gift card for a latte.

SFU Surrey is located at 13450 102 Ave. Unit 250. Registration for the open house is free. To register, visit Eventbrite. For more information, click here.
