How to become a volunteer

The Ministry of Education has introduced a new policy that is now in effect in all schools across B.C. As part of this policy, parent volunteer drivers are required to provide both a Criminal Record Check (CRC) and an ICBC Driver’s Abstract before they can transport students on school field trips or events.

We now also require anyone supporting our students in the school to have a Criminal Record Check.

This policy has been implemented to ensure the highest level of safety for students. By completing both checks, schools can confirm that volunteer drivers have safe driving records and that they meet the necessary standards to supervise and transport children.

What is required to hand into the office for parent driver volunteers:

  • Driver’s Abstract: You will need to provide a driver’s abstract, available through ICBC.
  • Vehicle Insurance Documents (Office staff needs to view only)
  • Drivers License (Office staff needs to view only)
  • Completed Driver Application Form

Helpful resources for parents (please see attachments):

  • QR Code to Request a Criminal Record Check
  • Links to fillable applications

We truly value and appreciate our parent volunteers. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through these changes together, keeping student safety at the heart of everything we do.
