Principal's Message November 10-14th
Good morning Panthers!
It is a monsoon out there this morning! Happy soggy Thursday morning Panthers. I hope your week is going well and you are adjusting to our late Autumn weather and shorter days. This is a time of year for important learning and we begin to think about our upcoming Winter Break. There are 5 weeks of learning, celebration, traditions, friendship and fun at Lord Tweedsmuir Secondary before we break for a holiday and a rest. All students are strongly encouraged to stay focussed, prioritize your learning success and enjoy all that these next weeks will bring us. It is always a special time!
Last Friday, our school recognized Remembrance Day with our Remembrance Day Assemblies. Thank you to the many students and staff on our organizing committee for all of your hard work and leadership in hosting these important ceremonies. Our school held 3 assemblies during the day. Our students and staff showed great respect and gratitude as we reflected on the sacrifices of our veterans and current armed forces in protecting the freedoms we enjoy today. Lord Tweedsmuir Secondary has a very long tradition of hosting very powerful and solemn Remembrance Day assemblies. This year was no exception. Again, great thanks to our entire community for your leadership and respectful participation.

Students returned to school on Wednesday after Monday’s Professional Development Day and Tuesday’s statutory holiday. With this, it has been an abbreviated week at the school but with much “on the go”!
Today at lunch our South Asian Students and Allies Club hosted a Mehndi Booth at lunchtime. We are very grateful for the leadership of our many student clubs and extracurricular activities and the ongoing efforts of our Lord Tweedsmuir community to celebrate our cultural diversity. The welcoming and inclusive nature of our school is so important. Way to go Panthers!

Our Humanities 8 students have been exploring the theme of Identity… and creating “Identity Puzzles”.

I wish all Panthers an excellent Friday and a happy weekend. See you on Monday.

Traffic and Student Parking
All Panthers are reminded that traffic around the school and parking on school property will be very busy with our increased enrollment and Extended Day schedule. All student drivers are reminded that it is very important to drive with care and attention while on or near school property. Safety is our first priority. Please drive safely and responsibly, be aware of pedestrians, and follow all traffic regulations.
If possible, all families are asked to consider alternative transportation options. Please walk or bike to school if possible. It would also be helpful if students are dropped off a couple of blocks away from the school and vehicles do not enter our school’s parking lot.
Please note that this year, students are only permitted to park in the Student Lot on the right side of our parking lot near our Portable classrooms. Students are not permitted to park in the Staff Lot.
All students wishing to park on school property must apply for a Parking pass. Application forms may be picked up at the office.
Parking passes must be displayed on your car’s windshield at all times while on school property. Parking privileges will be revoked for any students not following our parking regulations or for unsafe driving.
Thank you for your help and cooperation in responding to our increased traffic challenges and protecting the safety of our community members.
