I hope everyone had a wonderful Spring Break and that you are rested and ready for the final push of our 2025-2026 school year.   This is always a very busy, exciting and highly meaningful time of the year with new learning and year-end traditions and celebrations.  The next 3 months will move very quickly and are very important.  All students are highly encouraged to work hard, demonstrate your passions, skills and talents and complete the school year with success.   I am absolutely confident that our Lord Tweedsmuir Panthers will make us very proud and meet their learning goals.

On Monday morning we recognized both Transgender Day of Visibility and Indigenous Languages Day.  In addition, April is Autism Acceptance month and Sikh Heritage month.  Easter and Passover are also celebrated this month.  At Lord Tweedsmuir Secondary, we work together to create an inclusive, welcoming community for all of our students and staff.  Thank you to all Panthers for your leadership in ensuring that all members of our school community feel welcome and safe.

On Tuesday, our senior Mathematics students were busy writing this year’s National Euclid exam.  Good luck Panthers!  We are very proud of our amazing mathematicians.

Wednesday morning at Lord Tweedsmuir Secondary brought a very important learning activity to all students and staff with the “White Hatter” presentation.  The presentation was excellent and our student body was highly engaged in learning about Social Media and Internet safety.  Great thanks to Ms. Kermode and Mr. Plavak for your leadership in coordinating this opportunity for our students.  I have received very positive feedback from both students and staff.

This week we recognized Student Support Worker Appreciation Day.  To all of our Support workers - Thank you for all your caring support of our students and school.  You make a difference every day and we are very grateful for all you contribute to our Lord Tweedsmuir community.  Thank you!  Our students are very fortunate.

Our Staff Committee meets on Thursday to discuss the Round 1 Staffing process for next year.  We anticipate that our student population will remain fairly stable and that enrollment will continue to be approximately 1860 students.  That said, every year involves staffing changes and adjustments.  We are now beginning to plan for the staffing of our 2026-2027 school year at LTSS.   Over the coming months, we will be working on building next year’s timetable based upon the course requests that students submitted before the break.  This is always a large and complex process!  Great thanks to our Department Heads for your input along the way.

Enjoy your Good Friday – Easter Monday long weekend.  We will see all Panthers back at school on Tuesday morning.

Ken

Traffic and Student Parking

All Panthers are reminded that traffic around the school and parking on school property will be very busy with our increased enrollment and Extended Day schedule.  All student drivers are reminded that it is very important to drive with care and attention while on or near school property.  Safety is our first priority.  Please drive safely and responsibly, be aware of pedestrians, and follow all traffic regulations.

If possible, all families are asked to consider alternative transportation options.  Please walk or bike to school if possible.  It would also be helpful if students are dropped off a couple of blocks away from the school and vehicles do not enter our school’s parking lot.

Note:  For the safety and privacy of our students, please avoid using the Elements Casino entrance as a designated drop-off/pick-up location.

Students are only permitted to park in the Student Lot on the right side of our parking lot near our Portable classrooms.  Students are not permitted to park in the Staff Lot.

All students wishing to park on school property must apply for a Parking pass.  Application forms may be picked up at the office.

Parking passes must be displayed on your car’s windshield at all times while on school property.  Parking privileges will be revoked for any students not following our parking regulations or for unsafe driving.

Thank you for your help and cooperation in responding to our increased traffic challenges and protecting the safety of our community members.
