Principal's Message December 1-5th
Good Thursday morning Lord Tweedsmuir Secondary!
Welcome to the month of December and life at Lord Tweedsmuir Secondary! The next two weeks will be full of special traditions, celebration, learning, friendship and fun. We are grateful for the special sense of community and inclusion that we have built at our school. All Panthers are valued and welcomed into our caring community of excellence. I wish everyone the very best over these next two weeks and encourage all Panthers to take advantage and enjoy all that our school offers. This week has been very full of special events and amazing success stories!

On Sunday evening, our Varsity Boys Football team played against WJ Mouat Secondary for the British Columbia Championship at BC Place Stadium. It was a very exciting night for our school community, with many LTSS family and friends in the stadium cheering on our Panthers. It was an incredible, closely matched, hard-fought game with the score going back and forth. I am delighted and very proud to be able to say that our team emerged with the win and are the British Columbia Varsity Football Champions of 2025! This amazing accomplishment is the first in our school history. We congratulate the entire team of players, coaching personnel and all supporters of the team. We are very proud of you… and know that this accomplishment will bring memories for a lifetime. Very special!

It was wonderful to also be able to cheer on our Lord Tweedsmuir Secondary Dance Team as the half-time show at the championship game. Our dancers were awesome! Thank you all for representing our school and entertaining us with your talent, creativity and athleticism.

This weekend our Senior Girls Volleyball team was also playing in the Provincial Finals. The team travelled to Kelowna to face the top teams in the province. Our Panthers have had an incredible season and finished eighth in British Columbia! What a fantastic achievement for our team. Congratulations to all players, coaches and supporting families for all you have accomplished this year. Our team is such a positive force in our school community and wonderful ambassadors of our school. Way to go Panthers!!

This week started with our annual “Winter Wonderland” Door Decorating Contest sponsored by our Student Council. Our student leaders worked very hard behind the scenes to make this possible. We had many very creative entries and our talented students impressed us with their inspiring themes and school spirit. On Wednesday, we invited the LTSS Alumni Association to come to the school to help with the judging. We loved visiting the classes, admiring the doors and talking to our students. Our LTSS Alumni were very impressed with our amazing Panthers and our positive, thriving school community. Great thanks to Ms. Smith and our Student Council for your work in making this event possible.

Our Grade 12 students were excited to see the Artona Photography studio in our Parking lot on Monday morning. This week, graduating students have been posing for their Graduation Photos. It has been nice to see our students “dressed for success” this week! 😊

Tonight is our annual Winter Formal Dance for our senior students. I am confident that the evening will be a positive, safe and very successful event for our students. We have been very proud of the citizenship of our senior Panthers at this event in recent years… and have every expectation that this will continue. We are looking forward to hosting this year’s Winter dinner and dance and know that this will be another evening of special memories for our students.
Tomorrow at lunch, our South Asian Students and Allies Club is holding the final round of this year’s Bhabhi Tournament. The tournament has been running throughout the week and has been a very popular draw for our students. Good luck to everyone in the final round!
Students, parents/guardians are reminded that next week our school will be collecting food and money for this year’s Christmas Hamper Food drive. This is a wonderful annual tradition for our school coordinated by our Student Council in partnership with the Cloverdale Community Kitchen charitable organization. Donations will be sent to the Cloverdale Community Kitchen for distribution across the Cloverdale community. Thank you in advance to members of Lord Tweedsmuir Secondary for your generous donation to this very worthy cause!
Have a great Friday and enjoy your weekend. See you on Monday.

Traffic and Student Parking
All Panthers are reminded that traffic around the school and parking on school property will be very busy with our increased enrollment and Extended Day schedule. All student drivers are reminded that it is very important to drive with care and attention while on or near school property. Safety is our first priority. Please drive safely and responsibly, be aware of pedestrians, and follow all traffic regulations.
If possible, all families are asked to consider alternative transportation options. Please walk or bike to school if possible. It would also be helpful if students are dropped off a couple of blocks away from the school and vehicles do not enter our school’s parking lot.
Please note that this year, students are only permitted to park in the Student Lot on the right side of our parking lot near our Portable classrooms. Students are not permitted to park in the Staff Lot.
All students wishing to park on school property must apply for a Parking pass. Application forms may be picked up at the office.
Parking passes must be displayed on your car’s windshield at all times while on school property. Parking privileges will be revoked for any students not following our parking regulations or for unsafe driving.
Thank you for your help and cooperation in responding to our increased traffic challenges and protecting the safety of our community members.
