This Week at Lord Tweedsmuir

Thursday Sept 4th, 2025

Good morning Lord Tweedsmuir Secondary!

Welcome back to another year of friendship, inclusion, joy and powerful learning at Lord Tweedsmuir Secondary school.  We are delighted to see our students and staff again, and we know that 25-26 will be a year of great success!

Our students and staff have returned from summer vacation rejuvenated and “ready to go”!  This week, our school community has been making their transition back into the normal routines of the school year.  As a school, we have been very busy preparing for the year with facility maintenance, development of new systems, hiring new staff, and enrollment of students.  We are ready and 25/26 promises to be another year of success, complexity, connection and celebration.  Welcome back Panthers!

Thank you to all students as we have spent the week finalizing schedules and classes.  Our counsellors have been very busy.  Students and families are reminded that our timetable was built and staffed based upon last Spring’s course requests.  There will be very limited options for course changes at this time.  I am pleased to announce that our staffing is almost complete and our systems are ready to go.  This year we have over 150 staff on our LTSS team and approximately 1850 students.   Lord Tweedsmuir Secondary continues to be a big, busy, thriving community of learners.

This year we will continue with our Extended Day Bell Schedule.  Many students have been programmed with a 5th block (Period E) class.  In addition, we will be offering a Hybrid online/face-to-face learning model for some senior students in Career Life Connections 12.

This week we had the opportunity to meet with our students with our Grade-wide orientation assemblies.  Students received important information about the school year and expectations for their citizenship and success were clearly reviewed.  All students were highly encouraged to become involved in the life of the school and to make our school community even stronger!   I am absolutely confident that our Panthers will continue to make us very proud and demonstrate both curricular and extra-curricular excellence.

Our Student Council has started our year with Locker decoration and Photo booth fun!  I would like to recognize and celebrate the power of student leadership and the difference our students make in the life of our school.  Thank you Panthers!

Our first week always goes by quickly.  There has been so much positive energy and excitement in the air!  Students and staff will now begin their next learning journey together, and will be supported by a caring, highly professional and compassionate community.   We are all very fortunate to belong to our LTSS family.

Have a great day tomorrow and enjoy your weekend.  See you on Monday!

Ken

Traffic and Student Parking

All Panthers are reminded that traffic around the school and parking on school property will be very busy with our increased enrollment and Extended Day schedule.  All student drivers are reminded that it is very important to drive with care and attention while on or near school property.  Safety is our first priority.  Please drive safely and responsibly, be aware of pedestrians, and follow all traffic regulations.

If possible, all families are asked to consider alternative transportation options.  Please walk or bike to school if possible.  It would also be helpful if students are dropped off a couple of blocks away from the school and vehicles do not enter our school’s parking lot.

Please note that this year, students are only permitted to park in the Student Lot on the right side of our parking lot near our Portable classrooms.  Students are not permitted to park in the Staff Lot.

All students wishing to park on school property must apply for a Parking pass.  Application forms may be picked up at the office.

Parking passes must be displayed on your car’s windshield at all times while on school property.  Parking privileges will be revoked for any students not following our parking regulations or for unsafe driving.

Thank you for your help and cooperation in responding to our increased traffic challenges and protecting the safety of our community members.
