Principal's Message September 15-19th
Good morning Lord Tweedsmuir Secondary!
Happy Thursday morning Panthers. Our hot summer weather continued throughout the week. Enjoy the sunshine while you can! 😊
I hope your week has been filled with interesting learning, friendship, fun and new challenges. As a community, Lord Tweedsmuir Secondary continues to settle into our 1st semester routines after last week’s timetable adjustments. Again, I would like to convey my thanks and appreciation to all students and staff who were affected by these unexpected changes. With this, I know that our students will be very closely supported through this transition and I am confident that our students will continue to achieve excellence in learning throughout the year.
This week our Staff Committee met for its first regular meeting of the year. Thank you to all staff members who have volunteered to serve on this important working group. Our Staff Committee plays a key role in reviewing school systems and providing recommendations for student, staff and school success. I’m looking forward to working with our team this year!
On Wednesday, our school practiced another Emergency Evacuation Drill. The drill went well but also provided us with some unexpected complications to resolve. Great thanks to our Football team for taking a short intermission in your game to allow for the school-wide drill. Also, special thanks to our BASES Dept for your caring professionalism in meeting the needs of our students.
Thursday is our annual Karnival Kickoff (Clubs Showcase). Approved Extracurricular Clubs will set up information booths in our Cafeteria at lunchtime to promote their clubs. Students are encouraged to drop by and learn more about the many wonderful opportunities for fun, connection and involvement in school-life!
On Thursday evening, our Parent Advisory Council (PAC) will be hosting their first meeting of the year at 6:00pm in our library. All parents are welcome to join us and participate in this important Home-School partnership. The PAC plays a very significant role within our school, and we are very grateful for their support. Come and learn more about the school, district and the PAC and find out how you can make a difference!
Friday morning will bring back another very special Lord Tweedsmuir Secondary tradition with our annual Grade 8 Breakfast celebration. All Grade 8 students are invited to join us in the Cafeteria at 7:30am for a free pancake breakfast! This is a great way to welcome our newest Panthers to our school community and show our school spirit! Thank you in advance to our Culinary Arts students, Student Council and staff for organizing and preparing for this event. Way to go Panthers!
Have an excellent Friday and enjoy your weekend. See you on Monday!

Traffic and Student Parking
All Panthers are reminded that traffic around the school and parking on school property will be very busy with our increased enrollment and Extended Day schedule. All student drivers are reminded that it is very important to drive with care and attention while on or near school property. Safety is our first priority. Please drive safely and responsibly, be aware of pedestrians, and follow all traffic regulations.
If possible, all families are asked to consider alternative transportation options. Please walk or bike to school if possible. It would also be helpful if students are dropped off a couple of blocks away from the school and vehicles do not enter our school’s parking lot.
Please note that this year, students are only permitted to park in the Student Lot on the right side of our parking lot near our Portable classrooms. Students are not permitted to park in the Staff Lot.
All students wishing to park on school property must apply for a Parking pass. Application forms may be picked up at the office.
Parking passes must be displayed on your car’s windshield at all times while on school property. Parking privileges will be revoked for any students not following our parking regulations or for unsafe driving.
Thank you for your help and cooperation in responding to our increased traffic challenges and protecting the safety of our community members.
