Volunteers and Drivers

The Ministry of Education has introduced a new policy that is now in effect in all schools across B.C. As part of this policy, parent volunteer drivers are required to provide both a Criminal Record Check (CRC) and an ICBC Driver’s Abstract before they can transport students on school field trips or events.

This policy has been implemented to ensure the highest level of safety for students. By completing both checks, schools can confirm that volunteer drivers have safe driving records and that they meet the necessary standards to supervise and transport children.

All volunteers at school, field trips and events must complete a criminal record check. This will be on file with the school for five years. Click here to begin the criminal record check process.

Volunteer drivers must provide some documentation in addition to a criminal record check:

We truly value and appreciate our parent volunteers. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through these changes together, keeping student safety at the heart of everything we do.
