Day One Schedule – Tuesday, September 2
- School will take place from 10:00 am-11:00 am for all students in grades K-7. While it is only one hour, it is necessary for all students to attend as this is an important opportunity to meet our students and see if there are classroom spaces unfilled.
- Supervision will begin at 9:45 am. Please do not leave children unattended before that time.
Full day classes begin on Wednesday, September 3 for Grades 1-7
- Students in grades 1-7 will attend full days (8:30 am – 2:23 pm) starting Wednesday. Students will need a recess snack, water bottle and a lunch on Sept 3-5. The teachers will let students know which school supplies to bring. Please do not send ALL school supplies this week.
- Please remind your child(ren) that they may be rotating between different teachers and classrooms for the first few days until their class placements are finalized. They will also likely be placed in different student groupings during the first week.
Kindergarten
- Starting on Wednesday, Kindergarten students will attend according to their gradual entry schedule. The first full day of school for Kindergarten students is Monday, September 15.
Where to line up?
During the first week of school, students will line up and be dismissed in the following areas:
Kindergarten – Line up by the Kindergarten classrooms near the Primary Playground.
- Grade 1 -7 – Line up according to grade in the fenced grass field (This is the back field next to Strawberry Hill Elementary).
- Staff will be out with clearly marked signs for students to find their grade group line ups this first week. Students will be brought inside by our staff and will then be dismissed from the same location at dismissal time.
Items to note:
- To ensure student safety and smooth traffic flow, the main parking lot is reserved for staff only. We kindly ask families not to use this area for drop-off or pick-up. Instead, please use the drive-thru lane or find street parking in the surrounding neighborhood. If you’re nearby, walking is a wonderful option too! Thank you for your cooperation and support.
If you are aware of a friend, family member or neighbour who has not yet registered their child(ren) for school, and /or who might not be aware of the start date and time, please remind them of the need to register their child(ren) and to send them to school on Tuesday. Thanks for your help in sharing this message.
More information about the upcoming school year will be sent to you over the next few weeks. Please enjoy the Labour Day long weekend and looking forward to a wonderful year ahead!
Sincerely,
Westerman Staff
