Following the fire at Woodland Park Elementary, The Singh Foundation has committed to matching community donations dollar for dollar – up to $35,000 – to support the launch of a strong, exciting new technology program for Woodland Park students.
From March 3 to 17, 2026, every contribution will be doubled until we reach our goal of $70,000, directly supporting Woodland Park students with new, engaging technology.
Technology is how students read, write, communicate and participate in learning every day. These tools support literacy recovery and hands‑on STEAM exploration, and for students without access at home, school is their only opportunity to build these essential skills. Strengthening the technology program now will help close existing gaps and ensure students continue to thrive.
On Jan. 30, a fire disrupted learning for the students of Woodland Park Elementary, forcing intermediate classes to relocate to Regent Road Elementary while primary students shifted to the modular building on-site that was not affected.
Even with classrooms divided across locations, the school community worked tirelessly to rebuild stability and keep learning moving forward. In the weeks following the fire, our immediate focus was ensuring the replacement of basic school supplies so learning could continue uninterrupted. Thanks to the generosity of the community, those essentials are being replenished.
With those needs met, our attention has shifted to a new opportunity: strengthening Woodland Park’s access to technology, which is a need the school has faced for some time. Providing students with modern tools will not only support learning now but also offer something energizing and inspiring during this challenging period.
One of the most meaningful next steps in recovery is giving students and staff something exciting and positive to focus on as they rebuild.
Woodland Park is seeking support for:
- 30 MacBook laptops
- 30 iPads
- Charging carts
- Apple Pencils and keyboards
- A 3D printer and materials
- LEGO VEX robotics kits
- Ozobots and MBot classroom sets
This is more than an investment in devices. It is an opportunity to restore normalcy, spark creativity, and give students something exciting to look forward to as they move forward after the fire.
The Singh Foundation has also committed to investing in Surrey Schools long term by funding athletics, clubs and extracurricular activities at six secondary schools, ensuring there are no barriers for students to participate. In addition, they grant annual scholarships to Surrey students through the RCMP Basketball Classic. Their long‑standing support for these initiatives, as well as the new technology program at Woodland Park, reflects a deep commitment to student well-being.
