The holidays are a special time for many Surrey and White Rock schools – and 2025 was no exception! Have a look at how students decked the halls and showed their generosity this holiday season!

Newton Elementary and Woodland Park Elementary embodied the spirit of giving, with Newton’s classes collecting more than 36 boxes of food for the Surrey Food Bank, and with Woodland Park raising $942 and filling 30 boxes of food! Thank you both for opening your hearts to help others this holiday!

Kwantlen Park Secondary held its first Indigenous Winter Solstice Gathering, an opportunity to come together in community, learn from Indigenous teachings and honour connections to the land.

For its 23rd year, Fraser Heights Secondary students and staff built dozens of rocking toys for the Surrey Christmas Bureau, volunteering their time to support those in need while also raising $1,450 for local families.

L.A. Matheson Secondary's Punjabi classes hosted the school's annual Holiday Angel Tree Drive for the Surrey Women's Centre, collecting essential items and toys for care packages for women and children to support survivors fleeing violence.

Students at Strawberry Hill Elementary made the hallways festive, decorating bulletin boards with holiday designs ahead of a special pancake breakfast with Santa organized by the school’s PAC! Across Surrey, Coyote Creek Elementary also had a pancake breakfast, except it was crashed by the Grinch!

Santa paid a visit to BASES students at Enver Creek Secondary, with students also taking a special field trip to Gingerbread Lane!

Many schools hosted spirit weeks ahead of winter break, encouraging students and staff to wear holiday hats, ugly sweaters, and red and green outfits to show their spirit!

All aboard the Douglas Express! Douglas Elementary students showcased their creativity with a festive train that wrapped around the entire wall of the school gymnasium! Not only that, but teachers thought outside the box by going inside a box for a festive staff portrait!

Division 9 students in Ms. Philips’ class at Jessie Lee Elementary took first place in their category in the Central City Shopping Centre’s gingerbread contest!

Crescent Park Elementary students frosted cupcakes, decorated cookies, drank hot chocolate and sang Christmas carols to spread some holiday cheer!

Grade 7 students at James Ardiel Elementary stitched together some needle felt holiday designs and made ornaments to decorate for Christmas!

White Rock Elementary got festive with arts and crafts, decorating doors with snowmen, reindeer, candy canes and more! Ray Shepherd Elementary also got in on the door-decorating action, featuring gingerbread men, Christmas lights and even Minions!

Elgin Park Secondary’s Sr. Band filled the halls with music during their winter concert, and Grandview Heights Secondary staff surprised students with a flash mob ahead of winter break!

So many of our school communities do amazing charitable work during the holidays, and we thank all of them for their kindness, thoughtfulness and selflessness in this season of giving. Thank you for all that you do!
