First PAC Meeting of the 2022/23 School Year

The Parents Advisory Council (PAC) needs your help!

As we enter the beginning of the new school year, our thoughts are turning to see what contributions the PAC will be able make to Sunrise Ridge this year. Unfortunately, with this new school year it means that we have lost many of our key Executive PAC and PAC members over the summer. We are still looking to fill a few key executive positions. Open roles include,  Vice President and Secretary.

The PAC also requires a few parents to take on the roles of organizing certain events like The Welcome to school BBQ, the Hot lunch program, Hot dog days, Treat days, Popcorn days, the Scholastic book fair, and possibly the Spooky Halloween dance. Without volunteers these events will not happen.

What does this mean? There is a real possibility, that we may not have a PAC this year. Starting right at the President right down to our daily parent helpers, we are in desperate need for volunteers to step up so that all students of Sunrise Ridge don’t miss out this year.

What does the PAC do? Through fundraising initiatives, the PAC has been able to contribute significant funds towards the following: - Classroom technology including iPads, the gym projector and sound system, Apple TVs and more. - Presentations and events such as Blues Berries, Curling, and Hip Hop Dance - Outdoor & sports equipment, including the Buddy Bench and soccer nets - School jerseys used for the sports teams - Music equipment such as ukulele's - Classroom funding for extra activities and lower costs of field trips - Contributions to grade 7 graduation events

What will your kids be missing if there is no PAC? No Hot lunches, Book fairs, Treat Days, School-wide events and concessions. As well as funding that the PAC helps with though the year. Also, without an elected PAC, we are unable to apply for the government grant, which is usually over $7,000 per year for our school!

We are confident that most people/parents have some time they can give – you just need to find what fits for you. If you can spare some time to keep the PAC alive, please join us for our next PAC meeting Oct 5th @ 6:30 pm which is held in the schools library where we will hold our final Executive elections. We’d love to see you there!
