Spring Reading 2026: Books picks for intermediate students!
Spring break is upon us, and with the kids out of school for two weeks, what better time to curl up with a good book?
Our Spring Reading series continues with three recommendations for Grade 4 to 7 students from Creekside Elementary teacher-librarian Kevin Pang! Here’s what’s on his reading list for pre-teens over spring break:

The Lost Library by Rebecca Stead
Tucked inside a book in a mysterious free library are clues that Evan uses to solve a mystery in his small town. I like this book because it’s an enchanting mystery novel filled with twists and turns. In this book, kids will get a satisfying page turner that will teach them about community and the power of a good book.
Popcorn by Rob Harrell
Andrew is just trying to make it through picture day, but as the day goes on, his anxiety grows into a full-blown panic attack. I like this book because it’s a funny, moving and relatable story about dealing with anxiety. In this book, kids will get a poignant and funny story about anxiety, letting go of control and accepting help.

The Girl Who Lost a Leopard by Nizrana Farook
A brave girl sets off on a dangerous adventure through the Sri Lankan jungle to save a leopard she befriended. I like the story because it’s fast-paced, exciting, and full of beautiful imagery. In this book, kids will get an action-packed adventure and an appreciation for standing up for what’s right
There are lots of great books to choose from for intermediate readers this spring!
