Illicit Drugs Cause of Overdose Deaths in B.C.
This year, the Surrey RCMP and emergency health services have responded to a number of drug overdoses. In fact, Surrey has the second highest number of illicit drug overdose deaths in the province this year. The BC Coroners Service recently released a report on Illicit Drug Overdose Deaths in BC which shows that there were 308 illicit drug overdose deaths from January to May 2016. This is a 75% increase over 2015. Fentanyl was detected in over half of this year's overdose deaths.

Letter to Parents - Surrey Schools.pdf
On behalf of the entire L.A. Matheson Secondary family, we would like to welcome Mr. Rex Hayes (Principal) and Ms. Navshina Savory (Vice-Principal) to our school.
The 2016/2017 book is going to be fantastic! Take this opportunity to purchase a yearbook that will be treasured forever! Quantities are limited and the price will increase at the end of the school year. We sold out last year, so be sure to buy early.
Although the price will stay at $40 each until the end of March, if you buy before September 16, you get your name on the cover and protective metal corners.
Yearbooks can be purchased in room B111 with cash. They can also be purchased on line with a credit card.
Message from Superintendent of Schools
As you know, education in BC has been undergoing many changes. These changes are the results of years of collaborative work between our education partners and the Ministry of Education. The purpose of this note is to highlight important changes as we head toward the fall. One of the most significant changes for our secondary schools is the change to provincial exams. These changes will alter the exam structure and equally as important will alter calendars at the end of January and in June of next year....
