Bell Schedule for 2018-2019
Balance Our Minds
The Surrey School District is offering their 3
Balancing Our Minds Youth Summit
, a mental health event for youth by youth on May 7, 2019 from 8:30 am-2:00 pm at the Surrey Arts Centre. The Summit is open to Surrey School District students - grades 8-12.
Our hope is to leverage the relationships our Public Health Nurses (PHNs) have with their assigned schools to get the word out about the BOM event.
We ask that the PHNs take the attached poster to their secondary schools and help raise awareness of this event to promote positive mental health and provide students with tools to support resiliency.
For those of you who are not as familiar, the Balancing Our Minds Youth Summit is a one-day event focused on youth mental health, achieving the following goals:
·      Increase knowledge about mental health and substance use
·      Build awareness of available mental health tools, resources and services
·      Decrease stigma toward individuals experiencing mental health challenges
·      Generate ideas on how to promote mental health and wellness in your school community
in the afternoon will be offered to learn take away skills.
Workshops include yoga, mindfulness, art, drama and spoken word.
BE A GAME CHANGER
