 InformationStudent Orientation Days - Sept 10&11

To ensure a safe and smooth transition back to school, students across the district will be attending for one hour on September 10th, and one hour on September 11th for Orientation days. We will share safety protocols, school routines and other important information, ensuring students feel prepared and at ease for the year ahead. 


For children in grades 1,2,3 and 4, they will come to school from 9am-10am both days. 


For children in grades 5,6, and 7, they will come to school from 11am-12noon on both days.


Students will attend full days in their learning groups starting September 14th. 


Kindergarten gradual entry schedules will be sent to families shortly. 


We can't wait to see you and welcome you back Wildcats!

The BC government has suspended all in-class kindergarten through Grade 12 instruction indefinitely to help contain the spread of COVID-19. See the district's COVID-19 updates HERE

​In addition, all rentals and community use of Surrey & White Rock school facilities (except childcare) have been cancelled until May 31. Please contact rentals@surreyschools.ca for refunds or further info.

School playgrounds are also closed until further notice, and the District Education Centre and other district buildings and offices are currently closed to the public.

​This month marks the 39th anniversary of Terry Fox's dream, the Marathon of Hope.  On Friday afternoon, Sep. 20th, at 1:15 pm, Don Christian Elementary will run in Terry's honour. Donations will be accepted at the school until October 4th. You may also donate online by following the link below. You will need to enter the school's name (Don Christian) and the province (British Columbia). Our goal is donations of $1,500 or more.

All students report to school on Tuesday, September 3, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.  Students will meet in same grade groupings.  Signs, maps and our friendly staff will be available to help families this first day.  Our PAC will also be on hand in the main entrance courtyard. 

All students will take home a newsletter with important information about class organizations and school start-up.

​Lego Fun Fair raffle tickets are on sale! Tickets are two dollars each. Buy tickets before Tuesday and be entered for the early bird draw and win an iPad mini!  A booklet goes home with students, Wednesday, April 17. See details for more info...

It's raffle time Wildcats! Each Fun Fair year we hold a raffle to help raise funds for technology upgrades, field study experiences, and special presentations. We will also begin to set aside money to replace the back playground which is nearing the end of its lifespan. This raffle can raise up to $20,000 which will go a long way towards all of these endeavours!

Now for the prizes, we have some great ones this year!

All tickets returned by 8:45 AM on Tuesday, April 23nd will automatically be entered in the Early Bird draw as well as the grand prize draw. This live draw will take place during the morning announcements.

The final draw will be held live on Friday, May 10th at 2:30 PM. All tickets must be returned by 12 PM.

All tickets sold or unsold must be returned including partial books. If you do not plan on selling booklets please send them back so we can assign them to other students. Each book is tracked so it is very important that they are all accounted for. BC Gaming requires us to keep them for two years after this raffle for auditing purposes.

If you need more booklets please stop by the PAC room on Monday/Wednesday/Friday morning after the bell. Alternatively leave a note on your completed booklet and one will be given to your child(rens) teacher.

​Thank you to all contributors and participants in our first school-wide multi-cultural luncheon. Foods from more than 50 countries provided by you! From set-up to set-down to clean-up, dear parents and guardians, we appreciated your support. And the children especially loved it!  Please note we still have a variety of serving dishes and cutlery from home for pick-up; all items by the office. 

​Our school held its first school-wide multi-cultural luncheon today. The children loved it! With foods - breads, salads, main entrees, and (of course) desserts, we had more than 140 dishes. Lots of connections made and remade too! Positive feedback from Wildcats of all ages.  Thank you again for a memorable experience.

 InformationBE ACTIVE EVERYDAY

​All Don Christian students started a program October 1 called Be Active Everyday.   Sponsored by Doctors of BC, students were challenged to do one hour of activity every day for October. A booklet with information and activities went home. Folks at home, please join us encouraging our youth to stay active, eat well, and be more aware of the "screen time" with our devices. 5-2-1-0!  Ask your child to explain the numbers!
