Help Cambridge Elementary make a difference by donating to the Surrey Food Bank during the week of Dec. 11-15.
LEARNING IS ONGOING AND COMMUNICATION IS KEY
Open lines of communication between school and home are the foundation for your child's success. If you have concerns about an incident involving your child at school, please contact your child's teacher.
Why do students learn about Aboriginal people and reconcilation?
When students learn about Aboriginal Peoples and Reconciliation, the
First Peoples Principles of Learning
are honoured, and they learn about establishing and maintaining a
mutually respectful relationship between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal peoples
in this country. In order for that to happen, there has to be awareness of the past, acknowledgement of the harm that has been inflicted, atonement for the causes, and
action to change behaviour.
We are not there yet. The relationship between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal peoples
is not a mutually respectful one. But, with an open mind and open heart, we can all learn, celebrate diversity, and tread everyone with kindess and respect.
