Policy 8601 - Conduct of Schools


Consistent with the School Act, Section 76(1) and (2), the Surrey Board of Education affirms all schools will be conducted on strictly secular and non-sectarian principles. In addition, the highest morality must be inculcated, but no religious dogma or creed is to be taught in a school.
The teaching of religious doctrine associated with any particular faith or tradition is not allowed (except in a context which is intended to educate students generally about the various religious traditions for the purpose of advancing religious tolerance and understanding and does not advance any particular doctrinal position over others).
