YMCA BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL CARE COMING TO COUGAR CREEK - In need of before and after school care? The YMCA of Greater Vancouver has opened the Cougar Creek YMCA Kids Club to serve families in our school community. The Y understands that time gaps before and after school can be a challenge for parents, which is why its licensed Kids Clubs programs offer school-aged children a safe and inviting environment to connect with others and participate in enjoyable activities.

We have begun our 12 Days of Giving at Cougar Creek. From December 1 to December 12th students are encouraged to bring in Food Donations for families that need a little extra support. Please bring in Non perishable items. Please make sure the items have not expired, are unopened, and have not been dented. Money is also welcomed as the Surrey Food Bank has triple our buying power. So far we have 174 items - woot woot. If we receive 500 items we will have a games afternoon; if we receive 750 items we will have a whole school move and if we receive 1000 items we will have a whole school hot chocolate and candy cane day:))

We have received a donation of jackets and boots - please see your childs teacher or the office if your child(ren) need a jacket or boots.
Student Funding - In late August, the provincial government announced $60 million in one-time funding to school districts in B.C. – including $7.385 million to Surrey Schools – to make school more affordable for students and families.
Our district has now received this funding and has allocated amounts to all of our schools. Moving forward, these funds will be used to support families struggling with the rising cost of living due to inflation. We can use these funds at our school to ensure students can continue to participate fully in school, despite challenging financial situations. These funds can be used to help with school supplies, food and clothing costs, and additional fees so that students in need can take part in activities, such as field trips.
Families are encouraged to reach out to principals, teachers, or their school office staff if any financial support is needed for school-based supplies or activities.
