Thank you to all of the families that donated to the annual Terry Fox Run – we surpassed our goal of $650.00 and raised a whopping $663.85. Terry Fox represented the best that Canadians have to offer. He was an example OF COURAGE, HUMILITY, DETERMINATION, AND PERSEVERANCE. The Terry Fox Run is an annual non-competitive charity event held around the world to raise money for cancer research in commemoration of Canadian cancer activist Terry Fox and his Marathon of Hope.
Thank you to all of the families that came to our meet the teacher evening on Wednesday October 5th – it was wonderful to see the children excited and also to see so many family members.
The Foundation Skills Assessment (FSA’s) will be starting for the grade 4’s and 7’s. The FSA’s is an annual province-wide assessment of all BC students’ academic skills in grades 4 and 7, and provides parents, teachers, schools, school districts and the ministry with important information on how well students are progressing in the foundation skills of Literacy and Numeracy.
Photo Day is Friday October 14 – help our child pick out clothes and colours that look good on them. Any hairstyle works for picture day. Smiles can look fake if they are practiced ahead of time – remember, smiles are like French fries – they are better when they are fresh.
Diwali Assembly – we will be having a Diwali Assembly on Monday October 24th from 10:45 – 11:30 – parents and families are welcome to come. Diwali is a “festival of lights” that celebrates the triumph of light over dark and good over evil, and the blessings of victory, freedom, and enlightenment. On the night of Diwali, celebrants light dozens of candles and clay lamps (called diyas), placing them throughout their homes and in the streets to light up the dark night.
Vancouver Symphony Opera – On Thursday October 20th our grade 4 students have an exciting opportunity to see the VSO with our talented music teacher Ms. Loewen.
Halloween – We will be having a Halloween Parade on Monday October 31, 2022 – more information to come.

We are aware of the concern from community members about the crosswalk that crosses across 122 street. We encourage all our families to take the time to fill out the "Report a Problem" form on the surrey.ca website, and request 'Traffic Calming' for that area close to our school.
If there are specific problems with dangerous driving, please phone the Surrey Non-Emergency Line to contact RCMP at 604-599-0502 or call 911 if it is an emergency. https://www.surrey.ca/services-payments/report-a-problem-or-submit-a-request
