Terry Fox Marathon of Hope Campaign
Dear Colebrook Families,
Colebrook School is proud to be participating in this year’s Terry Fox Run on Friday, October 9.
In 1980, Terry Fox showed us what courage, compassion, and determination look like. His example continues to inspire millions of students across Canada to carry on his Marathon of Hope.
Over the years, the Colebrook community has proudly raised thousands of dollars for the Terry Fox Foundation, helping fund important cancer research. We are excited to continue that tradition this year and work together toward our school fundraising goal of $2,500.
Terry Fox Run – Friday, October 9
1:00 PM: Students will meet in the school gym for a warm-up before heading out on the run route.
Approximately 2:00 PM: Students will return to the upper field and reunite with their classroom teachers.
Students are encouraged to show their Terry Fox spirit and wear their Terry Fox stickers and tattoos on run day.
Fundraising Continues Until October 15
Although our run takes place on October 9, fundraising will remain open until Thursday, October 15.
There are two ways students can participate:
Toonies for Terry - T-Shirt Raffle
Students may bring a $2 donation to school until October 8. This is the only cash or coin donation we will be collecting at school.
For every $2 donated, students will receive one ticket for our prize draw.
Online Donations
Families are encouraged to donate through our Colebrook Terry Fox fundraising page:
https://schools.terryfox.ca/138249
Important: When donating online, please include your student’s name and division/teacher’s name so we can ensure their class receives credit for the donation.
Help Us Reach Our $2,500 Goal
We have a little extra motivation this year.
If Colebrook reaches our $2,500 school-wide fundraising goal, the class that raises the most money online will receive a pizza party.
Every donation, big or small, helps us move closer to our goal while supporting cancer research.
Parent/Guardian Volunteers Needed
We are looking for parent/guardian volunteers to help supervise students along our outdoor route on Friday, October 9. If you are able to volunteer please email Colebrook@surreyschools.ca by October 7th.
Volunteers are asked to meet Mr. Zadeiks at 1:00 PM for instructions, their assigned location, and a safety vest. During the run, volunteers will remain at designated locations, cheer on our runners, and help ensure students stay safely off the road and watch for vehicles. After the run, designated volunteers will complete a final sweep of the route to ensure all students have safely returned to the upper field and reunited with their classroom teachers.
If you are able to volunteer and have your a cleared Criminal Record Check completed, please email Colebrook@surreyschools.ca as soon as possible.
Rain Plan: If the weather does not allow us to run outdoors, students will complete their Terry Fox Run indoors in the school gym. Volunteers will be notified that morning if the outdoor run is cancelled.
Together, We Can “Finish It”
Terry started a marathon against cancer, and together we can continue what he started.
Thank you to our Colebrook families for your generosity, encouragement, and continued support of the Terry Fox Foundation. Every lap, every toonie, and every online donation helps make a difference.
Let’s work together to reach our $2,500 goal!
Sincerely,
Colebrook Staff
