Be a safe spectator at our school events

spectator-poster-medium.pngNow that spectators are permitted at select school sports and arts events, it's important that parents and other audience members follow the district's COVID-19 health and safety protocols if attending an event. (click the image to enlarge)

Spectators and visitors must continue to follow the same protocols as students, staff and parents, including:

  • Performing a health check prior to entering a school building
  • Washing and sanitizing your hands before and after visiting a school, and after touching various surfaces
  • Wearing a mask indoors at all times and ensuring it covers your nose and mouth
  • Respecting others' personal space and maintaining a physical distance of six feet when possible
  • Signing in and out at the office this is important for contact tracing purposes.

Spectators are asked to only attend areas of the school that are relevant to the purpose of their visit. Anyone experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19 must please leave the venue immediately.

To remind spectators of our protocols, the district has printed posters on spectator safety that will be posted in gyms, theatres and other venues with public events.

Different schools, venues and events may have different capacity limits for instance, secondary sports functions are allowed up to 50 spectators or 50% capacity because they generally have more space, while elementary sports typically only allow spectators outdoors.

Please check with the school or venue ahead of time to ensure the event you're interested in is allowing spectators.

For more information on the health and safety protocols being implemented in our schools, please review the district's Communicable Disease Control Plan.
