Fraser Health hosting immunization catch-up clinics for Grade 7 students at schools this spring
Grade 7 students who missed their Grade 6 immunizations last year will soon have the opportunity to catch up on their immunizations at school-based clinics this spring through Fraser Health’s Immunization Program.
During this year’s Grade 6 clinics, the health authority is offering catch-up immunizations for Grade 7 students with active consents on file, meaning they returned a consent form signed by parents in the 2021/22 school year and remain eligible for additional immunizations.
All kindergarten to Grade 12 students are required to have their complete immunization records in the Provincial Immunization Registry. Routine school-aged immunizations typically occur leading up to kindergarten and in Grades 6 and 9. These immunizations include the following vaccines:
Kindergarten
- Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis, polio (Tdap-IPV) vaccine
- Measles, mumps, rubella, varicella (MMRV) vaccine
- Influenza (flu) vaccine (yearly)
Grade 6
- Human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine
- Hepatitis B vaccine (if not immunized against Hepatitis B at a younger age)
- Varicella (chickenpox) vaccine (children who have previously received two doses of the vaccine or have had chickenpox or shingles, confirmed by a lab test, at one year of age or older do not need the vaccine)
- Influenza (flu) vaccine (yearly)
Grade 9
- Meningococcal quadrivalent conjugate vaccine
- Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis (Tdap) vaccine
- Influenza (flu) vaccine (yearly)
Dates for the clinics are to be determined – watch for information from your school for clinic dates.
Parents unsure about their child’s immunization status can check online using the provincial vaccination status indicator.
