For the sixth year in a row, students from across the district who are entering Grades 10 to 12 this fall are invited to apply for the YELL youth entrepreneurship and leadership program.

The course, which starts in September, is delivered in partnership with YELL Canada and is based on top-quality university entrepreneurship programs and best practices from Silicon Valley. It is geared toward students interested in business, innovation and seeing original ideas brought to fruition.

Students will learn to develop and evaluate a business, build a personal network of business contacts, hone creative and critical thinking skills, use teamwork and put presentation abilities to the test. The program also offers Q&As with guest speakers and local community leaders, mentorship opportunities to guide students' innovative and world-changing business concepts, and a provincial competition involving other YELL students from across B.C.

More than 84% of students who have taken YELL say they connected with a mentor or leader and plan to continue to stay in touch, and 81% say they are more confident in finding or creating a career that aligns with their purpose and passion.

Classes for this year's program are from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday evenings at Queen Elizabeth Secondary, from Sept. 22, 2022 to June 18, 2023.

Registration is open to students 16 and up as of July 1 who are entering Grades 10, 11 or 12 this September. Students who successfully complete the course will get credit for Entrepreneurship 12. (Preference will be given to Grade 11 and 12 students, and Grade 10 students will be considered if space allows).

The registration deadline is Sept. 16. To learn more about the program and how to apply, please check HERE.
