With summer break underway, Fraser Health is reminding parents of young children about the importance of keeping up to date with their routine immunizations to protect from disease.

For children between birth and age six, there are free vaccinations available for up to 14 different diseases, including diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough), polio, hepatitis B, measles, mumps, rubella and chickenpox.

Click here to see which routine vaccines are available to children and at what age.

Parents unsure about their child’s vaccination status can check online using the provincial vaccination status indicator here.

All kindergarten to Grade 12 students are required to have their complete immunization records in the Provincial Immunization Registry.

If children have received immunizations from another health care provider that was not recorded by public health, a copy of your child’s immunization record can be requested from the provider and uploaded to the Fraser Health’s system here. For children who have received a COVID-19 vaccine outside of B.C., those immunization can be uploaded to the B.C. Ministry of Health here.

Where to get vaccines

If your child is missing any of their routine vaccines, contact your local public health unit, family doctor, or visit Fraser Health’s website for a list of vaccine providers. All routine vaccines are free in B.C. To book an appointment, call 604-476-7087.
