Brave Learners
The Brave Learners Program is an inter-ministry outreach program between the Surrey School District and Child & Youth Mental Health (CYMH). The Brave Learners Program supports the development of anxiety management strategies for elementary students in the Surrey School District.
Schools can initiate the referral process, but must first have the support of CYMH. The program is divided into two streams of support based on the students' needs. The Brave Kids stream focuses on learning and applying anxiety management skills and strategies at school. The Brave Talkers stream of support follows the Selective Mutism Treatment Protocol by Kelty Mental Health Resource Centre and BC Children’s Hospital to help students with selective mutism learn to use their brave voice at school.
Programming runs for one year, with intakes beginning in the Fall or Spring. Referrals can be submitted anytime.
