1. Mentor 36 - Teacher Mentorship

Our vision for Mentor 36 is to design a sustained culture of collaborative mentorship at every site in Surrey, supporting professional growth, educator wellness and a sense of belonging in our schools.  Teachers can participate through i) a site-based mentorship program, ii) a mentorship cohort or iii) a 1:1 mentoring partnership.  Ultimately, our hope is that every first-year teacher who comes to our district will be welcomed and supported by an experienced mentor!

2. New Department Leaders Sessions

Learning and leadership sessions are offered for New Department Leaders who are in their first 5 years of this role.  Our sessions cover various topics such as:

i) Systems Thinking and Learning

- create a culture of learning with department members

- understand department / school dynamics through a systems lens

ii) Personal Mastery

- create clarity on our own leadership focus

- understand our own mental models as leaders

3. Compassionate Systems Learning Series

Surrey Schools works closely with the Center for Systems Awareness to help educators gain a greater understanding of Compassionate Systems Leadership. The tools offered within this learning series allow educators to approach complex and changing work through a lens of compassion, ensuring they are hearing all voices and meeting the needs of a diverse community. These workshops are offered by educators who have completed the training as master practitioners with the Center for Systems Awareness – a global organization that supports educators in their relationship with self, others, and the world.

4. Brightspace Online Learning Platform

Surrey Schools offers ongoing opportunities for all employees to engage in professional learning on our LMS platform.  We work in collaboration with different employee groups (across multiple school and district sites) to co-create course content for staff.  Courses include curriculum & instruction, assessment practices, Indigenous learning, educational equity, privacy training, health & safety, and many more.

School Districts that are interested in collaborating with us and/or wish to learn more about our Brightspace LMS platform, please email BPCD-Office@surreyschools.ca
