 Logging in to MyEDBC — Family Portal

Important Information

Login accounts are created when parents/guardians provide an email address to the school. 

The email will come from the following address: sysadmin@myeducation.gov.bc.ca

Username and temporary Password are sent to that email address.

  • If you did not receive your temporary password, check your junk mail.
  • Pop Ups should be enabled for some features of the site to work properly.
  • On first login you will be prompted to change your password and set a security question.  It is important to remember your security question as it will allow you to change your password if you forget.

    You must use a laptop or desktop computer to initialize your Login account or reset a password.  

    Some work computers and most smartphones may have a server firewall or popup blockers that prevent access to the website.

Logging in to MyEDBC

Once your Login account is activated, you will be able to use a smartphone to access all info in the system.Visit https://www.myeducation.gov.bc.ca/aspen/logon.do to log on to MyEducation BC.

Step 1

Enter the Login ID that was assigned to you. (Logins should be all lower case)

Step 2

Enter your Password (Case Sensitive)

If you are logging in for the first time, use the temporary password given to you in your email.

Step 3

Click Log On

When you log in for the first time, the system will prompt you to change your password.

 

Step 1

Click OK.

Step 2

Enter your current password.

Step 3

Enter a New Password using the Password Requirements.

Step 4

Then, confirm your new password.

Step 5

Click OK.

Choosing your Security Question

You will also be prompted to set up a security question so that in the future you can click "I forgot my password" to receive a new password.

 

Step 1

Enter your primary email address.  This email address will be used to receive a new password if you forget your password.

Step 2

Choose a new security question.

Step 3

Enter your Security answer then confirm your security answer.

Click OK.

 

Setting up Preferences

Step 1

 

After you've dealt with the password/security question click on the Set Preferences link when you click the down arrow beside your name.

Set the Locale to Canada to get the date format in Day/Month/Year.


Step 3 (optional)

In the security tab of the preferences pop up you can change your password and your security question at any time you wish.

I have two children at Semiahmoo. Can I view both of children's profiles?

Yes! Click on the Family top tab to ensure that both of your children are linked to your account. If you are not seeing all of your children, please email the school at semiahmoo@surreyschoosl.ca.

How can I check my child's attendance?

On the Welcome page, you will find the box below named Recent Activity. You can see Attendance and Recently Posted grades in this box. Just click in the box corresponding to the item you want to see.

Where can I see my child's current timetable (schedule)?

Click on the Family top tab (as shown above) and select the student who's schedule you would like to view. Then you'll click on the Schedule side tab. A list of current classes the student is enrolled in will show. To sort and view the current order of classes, click on the header of the Schedule column and then the Term column.

Where can I see my child's course requests for the next school year?

Follow the instructions to see the course requests as above. Click on the Requests side tab and you will see the list of courses for next school year. 

Where can I see my child's report card?

On the Welcome page, you will be able to view report cards for all children linked to your accounts in the Published Reports section. Reminder to save and/or print the PDF to your computer for future reference as it will not be saved long term in the Portal.

 I have forgotten my password – HELP!

On the login screen, you will see I Forgot My Password under the text boxes. Click it and you will be directed to reset it. You will be asked for your Login ID and primary email (which will be the same) and the security question you chose when you first logged on. 

An email will then be sent to your primary account to finish the process of resetting your password.
