The Surrey School District has partnered with many post secondary institutions (BCIT, Kwantlen,VCC to name a few) to offer students in Grade 11 or 12 the opportunity to take one of many different District Partnership Red Seal trade programs. Students will leave high school having completed Level 1 training with great apprenticeship opportunities. And did we mention that tuition is covered by the Surrey School District? Students currently working in a trade (such as line cook, carpentry, hairdressing, etc.), may be eligible to receive school credits, a $1000 award and be registered as an apprentice through our Youth Work in Trades (apprenticeship) Program. Please speak to one of our Career Facilitators for more information.
We also offer opportunities for students to attend specialty programs throughout the year. These programs are typically one week in length and are focussed on specific careers. Programs that are popular with students include RCMP Youth Academy and BCIT Biotechnology Career Awareness, amongst others. Students should listen for announcements or drop by the Career Centre for more information.
