Earl Marriott Secondary
Who We Are:
Earl Marriott Secondary is a comprehensive secondary school with strong programs in Academics, Fine/Performing Arts, Applied Skills, Athletics, French Immersion and extra-curricular activities. The ethos of the school is based on an ethic of caring summed up in our mission statement "To value the most precious treasures of Earl Marriott Secondary School: the minds, hearts, and well being of its people". The school catchment is very large, stretching from the Canada/US border and the waters of Semiahmoo Bay north to 40th Avenue, and on the west from approximately 152nd Street east to Langley. The school has eight school buses that pick up and drop off students daily. French Immersion students, who total approximately 25% of the student body, come from all over the Semiahmoo Peninsula. The catchment includes distinct neighbourhoods that include the complete range of the social economic diversity spectrum. The school enjoys the benefits of a very supportive parent body.
During the 2015/16 school year, the school's population will be approximately 1950 students. International students will continue to make up approximately 5% of the school population. Overall, the school has approximately 150 English Language Learner students and approximately 70 First Nations students.
Earl Marriott Secondary has a very strong Special Education Department. The school provides specialized support for our students through the Learner Support Team, International Department, Counselling Department, BASES/LSB, Connections and Tutorial programs.
Earl Marriott Secondary's student enrolment remained fairly stable in 2015-16. In order to accommodate all of our students, an extended day bell schedule was introduced in 2011. The school has two start times, two end times and two lunch times. The school is primarily divided into an early start Junior Schedule and a late start Senior Schedule.
