For over 20 years, the Surrey School District’s Safe Schools department has been a leader in the development and implementation of many unique, evidence-based and comprehensive prevention and intervention programs and at enhancing student safety. These programs include standalone resources such as the Safe School Liaison, Substance Use Liaison and Youth Diversity Liaison as well as partnerships with community leaders such as the Surrey RCMP (School Resource Officers), City of Surrey and Yo Bro Yo Girl. With each resource and partnership, we strive to provide each school with services specific to its needs and community. Through federally and provincially funded youth mentorship, suspension, bullying and gang prevention initiatives, including the highly successful Surrey Wrap project and PSST student website, Safe Schools remains vigilant about providing safety supports for Surrey School District staff, students and parents.
