Lions Pride
Lions Pride

In partnership with the BC Lions Canadian Football League team, the Safe Schools department delivers Lions Pride in Surrey schools.

Through the Lions Pride program, players from the BC Lions – such as linebacker Adam Bighill, pictured left – visit Surrey schools to talk to the students about making positive choices and choosing alternatives to gang involvement.

The players hold a four-team flag football league for at-risk youth with practices in April and a tournament in May. Those taking part in the flag football program were provided tickets to games in 2015.

Lions Pride, which is supported by the Ministry of Justice and Coast Capital Savings, visits high schools in Surrey, Richmond, Burnaby, Abbotsford, Prince Rupert and Cranbrook.
