BLAST is a set of programs for students that provide support and learning in a positive and safe environment to increase the resources and assets of each child.
Offered twice a week from dismissal to 4:30 p.m., BLAST staff and community partners work to increase the social, emotional and academic development of students through daily activities, mentorship and connections to their school community and culture.
Each of the twice-yearly intakes into the programs can support about 20 students from kindergarten to Grade 7.
Activities offered through the BLAST programs are designed to develop attributes including:
Greater skills lead to greater confidence, self-esteem, a sense of belonging and the ability to contribute, which in turn will lead to greater participation in the community and in school. Students will gain hope, respect, direction and a vision of a bright future.
