In this session, teachers will explore methods for supporting student self-assessment and reflection. We will discuss tools, strategies and the role of student voice in communicating student learning. By looking at examples of how teachers utilize student driven assessment in their classrooms, we can pinpoint how this can inform our teaching. A focus around quality assessment and the language we use with our students will guide this session. *Please bring an example of how you use student self-assessment in your classroom to share in small groups. Topics: • Self-assessment and reflecting in CSL • Quality assessment practices • Examples in the classroom • Related digital tools and resources • Opportunities for sharing our experiences Questions? CSL: Capturing the Learning for Digital Portfolios (K-7)

February 7
-
District Education Centre (DEC ) - Room 2020
3:30-5:30 PM
Session Details: Workshop: CSL: Capturing Learning for Digital Portfolios Date, Time & Place: Feb 7, 2019 (3:30-5:30 PM), DEC – Room 2020 In this session, teachers will explore methods of capturing student learning. It will offer ideas and strategies based off of theory, research and experience that help solidify the process of capturing learning for digital portfolios. We will look at methods to help engage students in the assessment process in order to create portfolios together, as well as examples of a variety of posts that are student or teacher driven. By understanding how to capture student learning effectively and to filter what we share out on portfolios, you can continue to create an environment where portfolios can support and showcase all learners. This session will be great for teachers beginning to use digital portfolios, or those who are experienced and looking to improve their practice. Any questions? Email Lindsey Frederickson, CSL Helping Teacher, at frederickson_l@surreyschools.ca. See Poster for more details. Please register on the SD#36 Workshop HUB or click here.
