September 8, 2020: The First Week Back from Surrey Schools on Vimeo.
With summer break over and teachers and students re-entering our schools this week, Surrey Schools Superintendent Jordan Tinney shares an important message for parents, students and staff.
"Opening day is upon us. This is a new era, it's a new world," says Tinney. "We have 75,000 students we're going to welcome back to school in one way or another.
"I want to talk specifically to parents about the importance of this week and the difference from previous years," adds Tinney. "You are making a choice this week about whether you're going to have your child in regular school as normal – that's about 90% of our parents – or you're going to choose one of our blended programs in either elementary or secondary. That choice is super important and it's important that we know exactly where you're going to send your child."
Written transcripts of the video message in English, Punjabi and Chinese will be available HERE.
Reminder: Sept. 8 & 9 are orientation days for staff only. Students begin orientation in their schools Sept. 10 & 11. For questions or schedule clarification, please contact your school directly.
