Aug. 25 message to parents, students & staff from Supt. Jordan Tinney

With two weeks until Surrey schools open for the new school year, please see this important video message for parents, students and staff from Superintendent Jordan Tinney.

"The message today is really just to update you where we are, tell you what you can expect on opening week, and to let you know where we are in our planning," says Tinney.

"We've also heard a cry from the community around looking for something different. Parents aren't sure what to do in the current pandemic and maybe they're uncertain about sending their child to school, and they're not necessarily looking for homeschooling or for pure distributed learning – they're looking for something in between."

Our schools have sent a survey to families, asking what education options parents are seeking. Please watch your email and provide your feedback to your individual schools as soon as possible.

The full Aug. 25 video message, as well as written transcripts of the video in English, Punjabi and Chinese, are available HERE.

The district has now submitted proposed school re-opening plans to the Ministry of Education and once approved, we will be able to share all of the details.
