Students entering Grades 10-12 this fall are invited to apply for the YELL (Youth Entrepreneurship and Leadership Launchpad) program starting in September – which is this year being offered at two Surrey school locations.
The course, delivered in partnership with YELL Canada, is based on top-quality university entrepreneurship programs as well as best practices from Silicon Valley. It is geared toward students interested in business, innovation and seeing original ideas brought to fruition.
Students will learn to develop and evaluate a business, build a personal network of business contacts, hone creative and critical thinking, use teamwork and put presentation skills to the test.
This year the program is being offered at two locations: Queen Elizabeth Secondary and Semiahmoo Secondary. Classes are two-and-a-half hours on Wednesday evenings and run from September 2020 to May 2021.
Students who successfully complete the course will get a credit for Entrepreneurship 12. (Preference will be given to Grade 11 and 12 students, but Grade 10 students will be considered if space allows).
