Semiahmoo Secondary's senior girls basketball team had the perfect ending to a perfect season – winning the triple-A provincial title.
The team was undefeated throughout the season, making it the favourite heading into the B.C. Secondary School Girls AAA Basketball Championships at Langley Events Centre.
Just as in the regular season, Semiahmoo sunk the competition at provincials, defeating the Kelowna Owls in the semi-finals to face the Walnut Grove Gators in the final.
The championship game, however, was far from a slam dunk. In fact, the Totems were down 28-21 at the half after battling a tough Gator defence. But Semiahmoo came back strong in the third quarter, evening the score and then taking the lead. In the end, the Totems hung on, claiming the title 72-61 and capping off an incredibly strong season.
Semi's Deja Lee was named tournament MVP, while Izzy Forsyth was named 1st team all star.
