Semiahmoo Secondary Totems senior boys volleyball won the 2017 AAA B.C. volleyball championship.

Surrey secondary schools spent another weekend bringing home banners from provincial sports championships.

Semiahmoo Secondary Totems logged their title after a nail-biter at the B.C. high school boys volleyball AAA championships at Langley Events Centre. Facing top-seed Mount Baker Wild from Cranbrook, the senior boys Semi squad (seeded ninth) won the first two sets of the final, setting them on what looked like a path to victory. But the Wild came back with two wins of their own, forcing a deciding fifth game.

In the end, the Totems pulled ahead, winning the gold-medal game 15-12.

Lord Tweedsmuir's AAA junior varsity team charged to triumph against Vancouver College during B.C. high school football finals at B.C. Place, defending its provincial title.

The Panthers had a 7-0 lead at halftime, holding onto it through a defensive battle with the VC Irish.

While the opponent logged a pair of touchdowns, Tweedsmuir added two more before the game was over, winning the championship game 23-13.
