The day-long event at Kwantlen Polytechnic University involved teams from across the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley, with Grade 11 and 12 (senior) and Grades 8-10 (junior) competing against each other in five practical activities in biology, chemistry, environmental science, geology, engineering design, mathematics and physics.
Some challenges included things such as making a thermometer from materials provided and then using it to determine the temperature of a liquid; building a boat powered by a solar panel; and determining the best strategy to win a game, by calculating probabilities.
