Networking and mentoring are among the keys to success in business.
Surrey Schools is accepting applications for the Young Entrepreneurship and Leadership Launchpad (YELL) program being introduced in the district in September 2017.
The program is for students entering Grades 10-12 who are interested in business, entrepreneurship and innovation and want to explore the field in a dynamic, real-world setting. No pre-requisites are required.
Delivered in partnership with the charity YELL Canada, the course will connect students with top entrepreneurial talent and more than a dozen guest speakers and local community leaders. Hosted at Queen Elizabeth Secondary, students from any secondary school are welcome to apply.
The course runs outside of regular school hours, with weekly two-and-a-half hour classes/meetings on Wednesdays, from Sept. 20 through May 23. Students will break into mentor groups to design an original business concept, with a goal of sharing their ideas and learning at a Venture Presentation Night in the spring.
The deadline to apply is June 26. See the application requirements HERE.
An information session will be held June 20, 7 p.m. at the Resource & Education Centre, 14123 92 Ave.
