More than 100 district employees are celebrating 25 years of service with Surrey Schools this year, and two more have reached the big 5-0!

Every year, Surrey Schools hosts the Long Service Awards to honour employees who have achieved 25 years with the district. This year, we have 107 employees who have reached the quarter-century mark.

"On behalf of the Surrey Board of Education, I congratulate all of this year's recipients on this important milestone and sincerely thank you for the years of support you have provided to our district and our students," said Surrey Board of Education Chair Laurie Larsen. "Your contributions are appreciated more than you know."

Additionally, Bear Creek Elementary Early Literacy teacher Carolyn Quan and Queen Elizabeth Secondary Adult Education teacher Steve Swenson are being recognized for five decades with Surrey Schools.

"Congratulations to both of you on reaching the 50-year milestone!" said Larsen. "Your dedication to our district and our students is inspiring and we thank you for your commitment and all that you have done and continue to do."

Though the traditional in-person awards ceremony is again cancelled due to the pandemic, the district is presenting cards and gifts to employees through their schools. In lieu of in-person parties, we encourage schools and departments to congratulate staff members by way of virtual staff meetings, morning announcements, school newsletters and school website posts.

Congratulations to all of our Long Service Award recipients, and thank you for your many years of service in the district!
