In response to the increased number of COVID-19 cases, our district, in partnership with Fraser Health, has established a series of additional measures designed to limit the spread of COVID-19. One of these measures includes limiting adult contact within schools. Therefore, beginning April 13th, we will be transitioning all of our StrongStart programs from face to face sessions to online learning through Microsoft Teams. A Family Guide to Microsoft Teams is provided below to assist you in navigating this platform.
While we recognize the value of face-to-face connection, our current reality prohibits us from gathering in person at this time. We hope that you will continue to engage in early learning activities through virtual sessions that will be offered each day. Please contact the StrongStart facilitator, by email, at the location you wish to participate and they will assist you in joining their online sessions. Facilitator's email addresses are listed in the StrongStart Locations 2020-2021 form below.
Our hope is that this measure will be short term in nature and that we will see you again in our StrongStart centers soon. We thank you for understanding as we continue to ensure that the health and safety of our children and families remains our first priority.
StrongStart is a free program for parents/caregivers and their children aged birth to five years old. Children and families participate in play-based learning experiences that are designed to support early learning development – language, physical, cognitive, social and emotional.
Parents and caregivers discover new ways to support children's learning at home while making valuable connections with others in the community. Those attending can expect to participate in virtual sessions that include story-time and play based activities. There are currently StrongStarts at 24 schools throughout the district.
If you are new to Surrey StrongStart and would like to register, please complete the online registration form which is provided below. If you have additional questions or would like to speak to a StrongStart facilitator at the location you would like to attend, please see the StrongStart location brochure for contact information. Please do not attend a school site without a scheduled appointment.
